Fore Sale — 1977 Pontiac Firebird — The Rockford Files S4 Replica

The Rockford Files 1977 Pontiac Firebird Original Restored. This is a beautifully and lovingly restored 1977 Pontiac Firebird V8 is from the popular television show The Rockford Files TV – Season 4 starring Actor James Garner. This car is basically in mint condition for its age, with nearly perfect gold exterior and nearly perfect tan leather interior. The original restored motor and systems are in great condition. Only update, the audio system was replaced with a modern retro blue-tooth sound system.

This car is beautiful and I drive it more often than every Sunday. It’s very fun to drive and very reliable too. When I drive it, people recognize it immediately and reminiscence fondly about watching the TV Show. They talk to me about how they remember watching The Rockford Files, usually with their fathers. Other younger drives attempt to race me, and sometimes I take them up on the challenge. It can easily peel out and reach quick speeds (but I feel guilty driving this special classic like that, so I try to restrain myself).

The TV Show: The Rockford Files aired from 1974 to 1980, and there were about 4 Firebirds per season (so there are possibly 21 Rockford File firebirds) based on my conversations with people familiar with the show. This car is special because of its amazing condition. I don’t have the full chain of owners, but I acquired the vehicle from a TV writer in Sherman Oaks, CA, who said she was gifted the car from Comedian Bill Burr.

There are a few car collectors attempting to acquire all of the cars from the show, privately from me, but this one is available on the open market! I don’t believe one or two collectors should be able to snatch of the cars for themselves.

Including in the sale: I have the original license plates from 1977, including the original license plate from the TV Show: “853 OKG” with April 1977 DMV tags. I will include that and the other plates from the show in the sale. Why is this license plate significant? According to James Garner, the license plate number (853 OKG) on Jim Rockford’s Firebird was thought up by his agent. It represents August of 1953 when James Garner got his first acting role, and the OKG comes from his home state of Oklahoma and the first letter of his last name.
